The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

December 12, 2023 by Admin

The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe commemorates the Virgin Mary appearing to a peasant named Juan Diego in 1531. On Dec. 12, many Hispanic cultures honor Mary, which is the patron saint of Mexico by serenading her, offering her roses to express the love towards our mother, and dancing traditional Indigenous dances as a symbol of whom she chose to appear to.

This year our 5th grade class presented to the entire student body and community of St. Malachy a reenactment of the apparitions of the Our Lady of Guadalupe. They performed it with great pride and spirit.
