As you know, the COVID-19 outbreak has become a growing concern in our nation and world. We, at St. Malachy School Administration, in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the California Department of Public Health continue to actively monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and update our response based on the guidance we receive from the Archdiocese and state and local Public Health agencies. The situation is very fluid and evolving each day and we want to assure you that the safety and well being of our students, parents, and faculty is our priority.
The public health official’s advice us to practice good hygiene, cleaning, limit direct physical contact such as handshaking, holding hands, and hugging. As a reminder, the LACDPH recommend all individuals stay home if they are sick, even for mild illnesses and maintain good hygiene. It is crucial all members (students, parents, faculty, etc.) of our community always follow these guidelines. The goal of these recommendations is to prevent gathering unnecessarily, where possibly infection can occur.
With that said, school will be closing beginning Tuesday, March 17th through March 31st. We ask that all students attend school Monday, March 16th so all learning/classwork packages are pick-up. It is crucial all assignments be completed during this time. Teachers will also be sending assignments through Remind App, email, and/or other forms of communication. The Archdiocese has asked every school to prepare a “distance learning plan” because of school closure. And to begin this plan, please take the time to fill out the attached survey regarding technology, which will help with our planning. Once filled, please ensure to return it no later than Monday, March 16th. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of your support in returning the attach survey.
We will continue to provide you with additional information and updates as the event unfolds. Attach is the letter directly from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles with more information. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school at stmalachyschl@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this very challenging time.
